I need to shorten my Carb tops ,they are touching the bonnet, can I do just one,or do i need to do the pair, do you shorten the carb tops and the plungers
How are they higher now . What have you done Dave?
Steve
When i bought the dollie it came with 2 inch carbs HS8,think there from a Jag,it looks to me as if some has cut the tops down a bit,but i need a bit more,as it hits the bonnet frame
20170826_092341a.jpgDidnt want the go about cutting the bonnet,so any one trimmed the carb tops before
HS8 Su's are 2" which were Jaguar or Rover SD1's, HS6 which 1 3/4", HS8's have the shortened dashpot as standard ,I think the HS6's on the Sprint also had a "stubby" dashpot as standard, I think it highly unlikely that HS8's can be reduced anymore in height.
HS6 like Nigel said may be shorter, those HS8s might be a bit beefy for the dolly engine. not sure I would fancy the job of reducing the height of them as there is hardly any neck on them as it is.
maybe time to look at the engine mounts and reduce the clearance slightly between sump and cross member
