Petrol System fuel lines to Carbs

Page 05-11 of the Parts Catalogue shows the fuel pipe fittings on the carbs with only short thick 1/4",3/16" rubber hoses connected to a rail rather than one length of rubber hose. One short thick rubber elbow (149844) and 2 straight (154280) short thick rubber hose fittings connected to what must have originally been a plastic rail (310220) in between those 2 part numbers and all connected to the fuel 'T' piece.
I dont think I have ever seen a Stag like this. Most now seem to have fitted a one pieice straight rubber hose connected to the 'T' piece.
Rimmers seem to offer something close to the original sketches in the parts catalogue but with what appears to be a copper rail in between and the thick 1/4" fuel hoses.
I noticed in my garage I had a similar looking collection of these thick fuel hoses and I have set about trying to recreate the original set up with some spare original plastic fuel line.
Mine had run well for years with just the one peice of regular fuel hoses secured with the regular screwable hose clamps; not the best look but obviously done once the factory original set up was ditched after passing its use by date.
Does anyone have any photos of what the original looked like, or reverted back to the original set up?

These thick hoses seem to fit on very well over the carb fuel inlets and as per parts catalogue I dont think they will need any clamps. They also seem to slide in/attach very well to the factory plastic fuel lines.

To be honest, I would never omit a clamp on a fuel line. Not necessarily always jubilee clips which can be overtightened and do more harm than good sometimes, but at least one of those annoying springy clamps.

        3 pieces = 5 connections = 5 potential leak points.
        1 hose = 2 connections = 2 potential leak points.

        What was the question again?

what Dave said to be honest

spring clips are dead easy to fit with a half decent set of pliers. make sure you use the right size and there is no chance of over tightening

Yep. I threw away those weird copper tubes too.
I've often toyed with the idea of getting one of those springy clip tools but, as you say, if the flatnose pliers are wide enough you can wing it!

I found it impossible here to get fuel hose in the two (presumably) original inch sizes to go on that barbed T-piece but managed to wing that too after I got a selction of hoses.

I used 5/16" hose from Halfords which is of the correct unleaded variety unlike I gather some coming from our major suppliers which has no type marking at all and perished in 3 months (on a friends car).
              Also use jubilee clips...

Its actually quite pleaasing that Halfords have their pipework stamped in proper measurents rather than the metric type - very forward thinking of them!
