    Rear brakes

Went for ride last night on way back there was strange noise from n/s/r brake had drum off today looks like the pin that holds the handbrake adjuster close to wheel cylinder has come out and got trapped between drum and shoe could I replace this with small bolt ? or would there be clearance issue supposed to be out in it tomorrow

pic it’s pin at bottom looks like you have to buy whole kit to get pin , was thinking of putting small bolt with nylock nut

Because of the relative roughness of the thread on a bolt (setscrew) is not as smooth as a pin and will slowly wear down. The adjusters are quite accurately made and operate to tight tolerances so I can't see it working .

I also have a life-preserving belief that you don't mess with brakes, steering and tyres, the rest of the car is fair game though.

Use a clevis pin. You can buy one on eBay, just measure yours and look for the same size. Small split pin and washer to secure. It needs to rotate, so I think a bolt would wear on the threads and develop slack. I replaced mine this way. Hope this helps.

It is pin with horseshoe clip holding it , you can’t buy on own only in kit about £85 the bolt idea would be stronger and the nut wont come off as the horseshoe clip has it’s just whether there is enough clearance

Will, try a clevis pin from the handbrake cable end. Might be a match.

Hi Will, You could use a bolt. Just use one with enough plain shank to cover the loaded area and shorten the thread just enough for the nyloc nut.
                    Cheers Ian A
