Tonneau cable pulled but won’t open cover

Help. I’m in France on holiday and when I try to open the tonneau cover by pulling the passenger side handle the passenger side of the tonneau will release but the drivers side won’t.

has anyone any advice on how to get to the cable to release the catch to open it so I can put the hood up..

Hello Griff,

Try getting someone to press down on the tonneau area that hasn't released, while you pull the handle. If that doesn't work, try removing the cubby panel and action it manually.

Thanks Dave we tried the first bit. Didn’t work. I presume the panel just unclips, not done that before.

Lift out the seat base, which should expose some self-tappers (or it does on mine!) which with some clips, hold the cubby panel.

I've managed to open the driver's side when that happened by pushing the end of the cable on that side with my finger. I was able to get at it through the hole in front it behind the B pillar. I then tightened up the nut that holds it in place and it worked again.

I know it is stable doors and horses but when you do get it open remove the two bolts holding the seat back in place. The seat back remains in place but it is soooooo much easier when the tonneau won't release.

This is what I had to do at the Kent National , retained my back seat with Velcro now saves all that aggro .

Does that work for the tonneau ? the catches are at the sides, the hood catch is in the centre.

Job done folks. Managed to get the tonneau catch open and adjusted cable. Now working fine.

Somewhere there is a thread about enlarging the 2 bolt holes through which the seat back is secured into a keyhole shape. The seat back is prevented from moving forward but it can be lifted and removed to access the mechanisms. Doing this will ensure that you will probably never need to do so. Just like adding the second cable release for the bonnet.
