    Oil pump change

    is it possible to change the oil pump without removing the exhaust downpipe ?

    Depends on the clearance - the “nose” of the pump is only about an inch from memory but it depends what happens with the drive shaft, if it comes down with the pump it’ll be a challenge to manoeuvre in a tight space.

      Richard, I think i managed to do it with a struggle but it was around 25 years ago so I might be wrong. Somebody on here could have a better answer.

        I had to remove the bolts and lever the downpipe out of the way. It wasn't quite possible otherwise bit to tight although it was a very close call and maybe you might just do it.

          Just remove the down pipe
          you will have to do it one day and copper ease it so next time it will be even easier

            Thanks guys. I have a new exhaust to fit anyway, its been sitting in my garage since December.....

            i was just hoping to do the oil pump as a separate job when I do the oil & filter change tomorrow.

              It can be done if you remove the distributor, complete with the hexagonal drive shaft. Fiddly, but possible.
