    BMW complete rear suspension transplant

Hi all I have not been active on here for about the last four years so things have probaly changed a lot in that time, I was wondering if anyone still changes the complete rear suspension for the BMW set up as this was the best way in the past if you wanted a diff and drive shaft set that could cope with more bhp plus you had the added bonus of rear disc, hope to see some old names crop up on here,
    many thanks Phil

    Hello Phil,

I decided not to go for the BMW solution and chose the New E J WARD diff and the Classic Driving Development drive shafts but this did not include any brake conversion. It has transformed the ride of my car so am very pleased but my car has not had any performance additions. I have also now converted to a 4 speed auto box from Clive Tate which is also brilliant if you like auto's as I do.

These are not cheap options but I am not aware of the cost of the BMW option.

I think the problem with the BMW rear transplant is that sourcing the parts is getting more difficult as the E30 BMW donor car is a classic itself now.
Also I believe from those why have bought the kit there has been a quality/engineering issue, the current situation i'm not sure.
      Mike.

I see in this month’s SOC magazine that Monarch (one company that did these conversions) is up for sale.

Monarch was sold last August according to their web site, but yes looking in the mag is up for sale again.
The demand for Stag performance parts must be so small, and getting smaller as the cars get older, I would of thought it needs to be an extension of a normal Stag parts supply.

Sadly looks like a downward spiral as the company being sold again in such a short pace of time will not to any prospective parts purchaser lend much comfort in times of problems.
I’d had a lot of help and advice off Ian the last owner but I think Mike is right here, it needs adding to a company with the ability to sell, service and guarantee....

They must get so many phone calls too for advice and probably takes a lot of time. Great quantity stuff and a lot of outlay I expect
