    Tax exemption

I have a late model Stag registered in 1978, well after the last one was built in 1977 - hence the car must be more than 40 years old. Swansea are looking for a whole list of things to prove the car is over 40. Has anyone had this experience before, and which documents are the easiest to produce?
    thanks

I think I read something about heritage certificate is the only thing they will accept now.

I guess too many people trying to bodge their way through has spoiled it for the well behaved folk like yourself.

A Heritage Certificate is a certified copy of your car's entry in the original factory ledger, showing the specification as it left the production line.

had this problem with my car, they wanted me to wait till April 2019 as it was registered in Feb 78 so past the January cut off. a heritage cert proved it was built in Sept 77 so vhi granted...worth the 35 for the cert.

I think there is so much confusion with these as my old 76 Stag it was the Build date when I got the historic tax but I heard they now go by registered date. I hope it is the build date as I now have a 78 Stag, so have that pain to go thru again. Took 3 attempts to get my 76 except. Hope it is easier this time but I think some Post Office Staff don’t understand
