    Rear Mudflaps

Were rear mudflaps offered as an option by BL in the 1970s?
I would like to fit them to my car but I am trying to keep my car as near original as possible.
If they were not an option I will not fit them.

I think just a dealer option like a radio unless anyone knows better.

They were Triumph branded ones back in the day, mine had them when I bought in back in the 80's.

Thank you. By being a dealer option means that I can fit them and still be original.

As stated mine were a dealer fit when new in 1975 and cost £5 rear £4 front supplied and fitted with 'Triumph" embossed thereon, if you would like better pictures just let me know.

Be interesting to find out what market specific mudflaps were fitted, especially what was fitted to the better specked USA cars. Here in Aust. most of what I have seen were usually the dealer fitted Leyland logo ones intended for the Leyland Australia Michelotti penned P76 Sedan and the extremely rare P76 2dr hatchback Force 7.
Probably were able to buy these over the dealer counter as well but not sure if they were British or locally made?
I could never remember seeing any flaps with the local 'Leyland Australia' badge on the Stag.
Prior to the 70's/BL takeover I don't know, we may have had the Triumph badged ones.
I have a pair of 4 but they look a bit ugly fitted to the local cars..Has anyone seen these Leyland ones over there? And does anyone have a more elegant looking version they have fitted?

Those mudflaps look pretty much the same as mine(fitted by previous owner). I don't know how long they've been on the car but I do have some pictures from the early 1990's of the car without mudflaps. However I think they do look correct for the period.

Looks nice - a chunk of Triumph with shades of AlfaSud Sprint.

I had them on mine back in the '80s and took them off after they fell apart. They were clamped on so no holes BUT it was rusty behind them.

Thanks for the pic Nigel. I would be very interested to use those instructions in adapting a set to fit. I assume they are for the rear?
Bit hard to read in the photo though, if you dont mind please uploading a higher res copy. Thanks John.
