    Confused over new mot

my stag is classed as a historic vehicle ,my mot will run out in a couple of months ,the stag is standard, so how do I get mot free stag

I phoned DVLA yesterday and was told I don’t need to declare the vehicle as historic as I have recently retaxed the vehicle without ticking the box but that’s not a problem.....I was assured I won’t get pulled by the police :-)

Just keep driving it. When your need to renew the Road Tax you have to complete a declaration that the car is not "substantially modified" and declare it as exempt.

This is from the .gov website here:

The MOT test changed on 20 May 2018, with new defect types, stricter rules for diesel car emissions, and some vehicles over 40 years old becoming exempt.

"You won’t have to apply to stop getting an MOT for your vehicle.

However, each time you tax your historic vehicle (even if you don’t pay a fee), you’ll have to declare it meets the rules for not needing an MOT."

      Hope that helps.

Just out of interest how easy was it to get through? My car is classed on the log book as an automatic but it was changed to manual about 20 years ago and I'd like to change it but don't want to be on hold for an hour.
