    Dashpot O rings

    Hi Guys
I am about to renew the Dashpot O rings on my carbs, as any oil I put in drains away in no time. I have the special tool and the new rings, but I am sure I remember somebody posting, maybe a link, specific instruction for doing this job. I have searched the forum including Dasadrew excellent technical section with no luck, so maybe I am imagining it.

I don't want to do this job right and without altering the carb settings as they appear spot on, Just under 30MPH on a long motorway journey.

    Cheers

    Mac

The bit you want is in Section II, scroll down.

It doesn’t mention removing scratches from inside the valve tube, caused by pushing out the star washer. Use a suitable piece of dowell and some wet/dry paper.

What's so funny? I'm thinking. My excuse is that G & H are next to each other on the keyboard, so it was a typo, not senility, but please feel free to disagree.

I can tell you from personal experience, that if the i/d of that tube gets badly scratched up as the star washes are removed/replaced, it can cause all sorts of weird problems, since the dashpot dampers can jam and cause the air valve to hang up.

BTW Mac, lighten up, t'was mild joshing only.
