    carb float height

Why would the float height need adjusting? I can't see why someone would need to adjust the float height. I cant see the metal strip that the floats are attached to bending over the years.
Maybe when the float leaks or the valve needs replacing only then. But what other situations warrant adjusting the float height? Am I missing something?

Sujit, not sure why you’re asking the question, unless your carbs are flooding, but the needle valves do wear. The constant opening and closing and pressure from the float arm wears the taper on the needle valve. I assume no needle valves are exactly the same, so when you replace them, the float heights need to be Re-set. And it is critical; too low and you could suffer fuel starvation, too high and you’ll get flooding and fuel pouring out of the overflow.

    Hope this helps.

      Hello Ian,
Thanks, I was missing something. I really didn't think the needle valves wear. I'll make sure I have the correct height and make sure the valve is closed. I understand the principle. My parents house in the UK still has a water tank in the attic. Changing the rubber seal on the ballcock was a frequent job.
