I recently posted concerning my overdrive which was not doing what it should have been. It was rebuilt by JR Dain of Norwich in Sept 2017 whilst my Stag was with its previous owner.

Having purchased the car only a couple of months ago, any warranty on their work was not transferrable to me and, therefore, JR Dain could have easily refused to accept any liability whatsoever. In reality quite the opposite happened; they took the car in, stripped the overdrive and replaced the clutch-release springs. This was thought to have cured the problem but it resurfaced on my drive home from the workshop. They asked if I could return it to them and paid for my train journey home.

The following day they rang me to say that the problem was solved (new solenoid fitted) and the car was ready for collection. In addition to completing all work free of charge they paid for my train journey and collected me from Norwich station too!!

The car performed faultlessly on the journey home and I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending JR Dain Transmissions of Norwich to anyone with a problem. They are first class, professional and care about what they do - a rare quality these days!!

Excellent recommendation Chris and it is good to know that there are businesses who accept responsibility for their work, I have just had an issue with a oil pressure switch from ANG Classics, I contacted them and explained the problem and they have despatched a replacement FOC without question, another good recommendation.

This is what we should be doing with regard to repairers and suppliers who give us a great service, conversely why should we not be able to name repairer and suppliers who fail to achieve the minimum standard that is considered acceptable. The club also has a responsibility to its members as well as advertisers

l have had a similar experience with better car lighting, l had a brake light fail, and it was one of the brake,fog,reverse lamps so not a cheap one. after many appolagies from Gill when l phoned, despite me saying it was not his fault, 2 replacements arrived foc the next morning...you get good service from many suppliers...and great service from a few.

Can I add that I bought a pair of track rod ends from SOC spares and one was faulty.They kindly sent me a replacement straight away with no fuss

I have just had a windscreen fitted by a guy I found in Greater Manchester who has considerable experience in fitting glass to classic cars and I would highly recommend, he fitted the screen and trims, sealing it both to the glass and body, a good professional job.

I have seen his portfolio of work and he has replaced glass on all sort of classics, no connection other than a satisfied customer.

Thumbs up for SOC spares for me too. I had an order from them which arrived with a bit missing, although shown on the invoice. Missing part was dispatched very quickly no problem.

Just received an order from Peter at LDparts for numerous items.
when i placed the order a couple of the things i wanted were out of stock. Continued with the order for the parts he had and payed, received a Email back from Peter to say sorry the parts i had tried to buy were out of stock but were available from another supplier.

He had checked they were in stock and informed me in his opinion they were a good buy.

The parts from LD arrived on time and well packaged.

This is an excellent example of customer service IMHO.
