Regarding the numbers stamped on the car

I have a Stag with number LE1207 L (Feb '71) which I'm trying to get on the road with sourced parts.
    From data on Rimmer website

    LD748
    1st January 1971
    First car built in 1971

Is there anything I can show off about this car? Like its the x number built etc.

BTW what does it man by first-sanctioned, second-sanctioned? Do these mean slight changes the car over the years?

Hi Sujit, The above stats are correct. The first car built in 1971 was LD 748. The actual first 'line-built' car was LD3 built in 13th March 1970. There were quite a few prototype/Preproduction cars prior and several of these survive.
Yours is in the 'First Sanction' run which finished on the 9th November 1971 (with LD 3900) and depending on its originality there would be some curiosities on it compared to say the later cars.
The cars were built in 'sanctions' or batches if you like; the Stag had a low volume production run and focus was on the other Triumph models of which the Stag shared the production lines. Changes/improvements were made of course in all of the 5 sanctions over the years. Sometimes there was an overlap, meaning cars with a second sanction spec may have been built as the first sanction was still going.
The US cars were definitely the best specked and best looking in my opinion culminating in the USA Mark II which had the alloy wheels, remote mirror, newer colour schemes, integrated Air Con, smaller steering wheel and even what is now called 'mood lighting' - a strip light under the central air vent. Just a beautiful looking car.
We got the 'poverty' models here in Australia..

Thanks so based on this data (1207 - 748) I can assume my Stag is the 459 th production built. Something to tell my kids.

I would be telling my kids that too as that is something to brag about!
Mine are also under strict instruction never to sell the car when they inherit it. They can fight over who gets the Stag and who gets the 2500S.

I think you may have misinterpreted. LD748 was the first built in 1971, production started in 1970 if your car is LE 1207 I would presume it was the 1207th one made, assuming the LE and LD cars were made sequentially.
