Does that work by filling the void at the end with grease thus forcing/displacing grease up the length of the splines?

Don't fill the void, it will blow the plug out of the end of the shaft. You have to hope the grease will distribute around the splines.

That's what I was wondering. I have just regreased my splines, but by taking the driveshafts apart, cleaning them then painting grease all over the male and female splines with a 12mm paint brush. The excess grease just pushes to the end of the female spline when I put them back together which I wipe off before fitting the gaiter back on.

When I pump grease in it comes down the splines and out of where the gaitor fits, have now drilled the plastic covers so I don't have to remove them to get to nipples
A couple of pumps every year does the job ☺️
