I probably should know this, but why does that bracing reduce diff noise? My recently back on the road '73 is very noisy in the rear end, the noise changing pitch with acceleration. I've assumed it is internal, though when I changed the front seal and took a peak all looked shiny and bright, certainly no worn or broken teeth. But, what do I know. It may well have been driver dry in a former life.
