Where does this pipe go?

Hi,

I'm new to the world of the Triumph Stag (Mk2) and am not that mechanically minded and so am a little embarrassed about the following question because I think it has a very simple answer.

I recently had to take the air cleaner top off and when I put it back on I found there was a pipe coming out of the motor housing which I couldn't find a home for despite the pipe being fairly short and lots of looking around the length of that pipe. I have looked in the Haynes manual, the SOC forums and technical help and I could find no reference to this pipe.

Does anyone know where it should go? See attached picture for the pipe in question.

Underneath the air filter, there are 2 outlets the other short hose goes to the little outlet from the manifold

Just been out to look at my car and the pipe goes underneath the filter to a round fitting fastened below the air cleaner box which as far as I can make out from Rimmer's catalogue drawing is a Thermic Sensor,whatever that means.

Pipe goes from the spigot at the base of the carb to the temperature sensor on the bottom of the air filter housing, the second goes from the temperature sensor to the vacuum control on top of the air filter housing. This controls the flap in the filter housing which diverts air feed to the exhaust manifold when cold. I found mine was knackered and allowing vacuum leak causing rough idling so i capped the pipe at the spigot with a small bolt in the plastic pipe. Car has never run better. Unless you're in a cold climate i don't think this system is necessary.
