I read an article today which was written by a Triumph salesman who used to work in a London dealership. He sya that he sold a new Stag to Sid James in 1971 - does anyone know if this car still exists?
Last I heard of it was back in late eighties early 90's, an Indian chap in Southall had it. Don't know if it is true but someone was boasting about it.
There were over 20 Stags in Southall at one time, it was a Southall gangs car only the top members drove it. The rival gang drove 2.8 injection Capris.

thats strange you should say that, way back in the early 80's while i was still at school, i remember talking about cars and saying how i wanted a Stag, the answer i remember is why do you want an Indian's car. Years later when i got one my wife said that all the Indians in Brixton / Streatham used to drive them.

I thought someone must know of it! I wonder if it is lurking unrestored somewhere?

The Stags I know of in Southall are all restored, the only exception is they just love to fit in cream/white seats and s/tops and sprayed in unusual colors. Only a handful are original restorations.
I am looked at with a stiff upper lip when I am in my stag:X
p.s I know of 2 which are sprayed pearlescent:shock:

I'm up for that,!
Many years ago I attended Southall Tech, its a great spot. We had an old apprentices reunion there a few years ago. Even the Ace Cafe that is perched on angle iron over the railway bridge is still there after 45 years. Instead of Afers sausage sarnies it now does greasy Kebabs. There are some excellent authentic Indian restaurants. I'm not sure I fancy driving alongside stagdad with that flag flying though

Al
Al, it's not a part of London I know that well, but it's still easy for me to get to (even from the deep south) i can go via Richmond park, pubs would have to be down to you/ sukh to find........i'll wearan Indian cricket shirt soas toblend in.
England flag? You will be surprised Al. There are Ardent England footie funs here, and like myself a large concentration of die hard Chelsea fans and Arsenal.
There are some really nice pubs here that serve up pukka Tandoori dishes.
The treat will be on me if you pop down ( food only, remember I don't drink). I mean it, you will enjoy the grub.So the more of you come down the merrier.
I am surprised no one as yet asked me how much I used to drink.

Going to the gym now,.....so will talk later.
Sukh.
Sukh. it was all going so well until you mentioned the die hard Chelsea fans:X, seriously though if a pub with a decent car park can be found i'm more than willing to make it a date, we may manage to entice a few more W / SW London owners out to play.
Go on then I'll ask the question - how much did you used to drink then
Ian, yes I will get right on it, there is a nice pub though, the Hareand Houndson Windmill lane going towards Gillette corner on the Great West road, nice drive there in a car like a Stag and a nice car park.
I will find a nice Tandoori place with a large car park.
And the dreaded drinking,......used to start at 18.00hrs to 22.00hrs.1 bottle of scotch. If Vodka then a litre. Next morning 7.00am to work doing a responsible job which carried ahigh amount of reprehensibility if things went wrong but never did.
Carried on like this for five years until my Liver asked for a divorce and the kidneys nearly ran away with the stool
