    glue for front badge

I glued my new stag badge to the plinth I used 3M badge glue. after a few days the badge started to discolor, the glue was eating through the paint and into the acrylic badge itself. This adhesive must be solvent based.
I took the badge off sanded and Polished all the paint and glue off now I am going to reglue it. What type of glue should I use. I'm thinking going with silicone caulk. I can't imagine silicone beating through the acrylic. I need advice appreciated. Thanks

Is this a new Grille Badge Insert?

If so, this was discussed recently (https://socforum.com/forum/forum/sta...e-badge-insert)

Some rtv silicones give off acetic acid....don't use on cars, never mind badges on cars.
Polyurethane sealer is ok, just my opinion though.....glue gun sounds good.

Why not just use the proper stuff as used on modern cars.
This tape is popular for automotive use because itwill provide a firm and flexible bond to plastic trims, car badges and number plates & mirrors. Double sided mounting tape. high strength. Has 1000's of uses. | eBay!

I used this on the rear badges.
They fell out on a trip.
Good job they were still available at that time.

Agreed. Lost one grille badge using that stuff and noticed my existing one hanging off last week having used the same stuff again. Barely lasted a year or so.

If it was a new one it comes with fitting instructions and automotive grade double sided tape. Just a case of reading the instructions
