what is the screw size used for the carb dash pot covers?

I would say M5 x 0.8. The thread OD is certainly 5mm, but I only have a 1mm thread gauge which is too large. I just bought some replacements and they are sitting on my desk waiting to be fitted!

No metric on the Stag or Strombergs, I'm pretty sure they are 10-32 UNF threads, 1/2" long, pan headed with a Pozidrive drive.

You can buy them from the usual suppliers about a $1 a piece.

As Nigel said above there is definitely no metric on the Stag. Some metric may fit even though threads have a different pitch to the imperial but I never go there. I ordered a new set myself, they were great but were too shiny and looked out of place..Using a philips head and not a pozi drive head is one way to quickly ruin them!
