Parcel Shelf

OK so I've just spent a not inconsiderable sum having the sills replaced and externally the car now looks great. So its probably time to start tidying up the inside. Gonna treat myself to new carpets and seat foams and covers for the front seats. But taking it out for a spin a few minutes ago I noticed that the black is coming off the passenger side parcel shelf. The shelf itself is in good condition and doesn't merit replacement. Has anybody out there painted their parcel shelf? What is the best paint to use? Any ideas?

I painted mine with normal satin black aerosol, and added a small peice of alloy angle to give the back some rigidity, did not paint the bump cushion.

I re-positioned the fore / aft piece of the rear-side panel on the shelf to give me a vertical surface on the front edge of the panel on which I mounted a fan override switch and a couple of USB power sockets. This only involved the small angled part of the shelf.
