    Hood stowage - prevent scratching

Been thinking of a way to stop the hood window from getting the scratch marks across the middle when it's folded and came up with the this.

It's actually a carpet i bought years ago which was supposed to be a Stag boot carpet but it wasn't!

Fits perfectly in the space, adds some additional sound deadening too and will completely stop the hood window from rubbing on anything that may scratch it.

The back section is just glued to the rear panel and the front edge wraps around between the seat and the frame edge.

    Rather pleased with it!

I always unzip mine when it’s in for long-term storage, like between Michaelmas and Easter when the hardtop is installed.
The window hangs vertically and doesn’t catch anything or crease.

I always unzip mine whenever I put the roof down, never fold it zipped as the window is a thicker plastic than standard - 'compliments' of SE trimming.....

Mine came with a large rolled up towel used by the previous owner. The idea being to put the towel in the "crook" of the window to keep it rounded and stop it forming a crease. However I do sometimes unzip it as well, especially if it's going to be folded down for a long period during the summer months when it's stored in the garage between trips out.

Like the idea of the sound deadening - should help with dif whine!

Seriously, that ‘metal box’ where the hood stows is not that well insulated in any case so doing what I have makes for a much quieter rear end, diff whine or not...

Like others on here I unzip the plastic window and let it hang down vertically in the compartment when stowing. It's worked well as I still have the original hood and the window is crystal clear with no marks or scratches.
