OK, despite all the promises of an Indian Summer, I have taken the bold step of putting the hard top on my Stag! That will either guarantee a spell of sunny weather or, as I am hoping, the heavens will open and I can drive around in the best looking, best sounding, smallest saloon car ever made! Anyone agree with me? Regards, John.

As a Christian, I love the use of these feast days but I'm not sure what they equate to on the calendar. If it's cold the roof goes on and when the sun comes out for more than 20minutes the roof comes off. That's my mantra. My HRW is not working, then again, neither am I so I can drive out on any day that I want! Regards, John.

My car came with a hard top when I bought it but I never wanted it and consequently sold it soon after. No way could I have fitted it by myself and as my other half isn't very good at lifting stuff it would have been dangerous to try. Plus it took up a lot of room in the back of the garage and I would never used it because when the council start chucking salt about my Stag goes into hibernation. Obviously two schools of thought regarding winter driving but I use my modern car rather than risking my pride and joy. Ok, I guess that makes it an expensive toy but that's my choice.

Much as I love driving my Stag there are times when a modern car is more practical. For example I'm a fisherman and no way would all my gear fit into the Stag. Same thing applies to holidays or doing a "big shop". Besides which I'd never leave the Stag unattended in a public car park. For me it's all about open topped driving and if I can't have the hood down it doesn't go out, which is why I had no use for a hard top.
