Hardtop Hood and frame refurbishment

Having almost completed the restoration of my hardtop (just need to source some missing trim, any leads welcomed) I'm now turning my attention to the sorry state of my soft top. The hood is in a very poor state with several gator patches applied by the PO so will need replacing but I don't really know how to asses the condition of the frame. So many questions, where to start?

I don't fancy fitting a new hood myself so looking for recommendations for a fitter that I can get to from Bristol. I'm considering powder coating or painting the frame, possibly in the same color as the hood lining. I I'm sure I can dissemble/resemble the frame but I'm not sure weather I should really leave this to someone with more experience given that I don't know how to assess it in the first instance.

Edd had a well-known hood ‘expert’ visit him in Bristol to fit a new hood. Don’t think he’d recommend him though.........

I used another well known trimmer that advertises in the magazine, but sadly I would not recommend. I am not happy with the result, especially the quality of the powder coating and finishing on the fabric.
