I'm going to start my bodywork, right after our 40th anniversary trip next month. SWMBO is resigned to all the noise and smells that will occur over the next 6 months or so.
That's noise and smells from the garage, she has never got resigned to my personal noise and smells..
As Dancing With the Stars is on TV I was able to sneak out and take a look at what I need to do, One of the jobs is to right the wrongs done to an otherwise nice body shell by the PO. At some point a 5 speed gearbox was installed, obviously with a 5lb Lump hammer and a sawzall. The cross member must have been right where the gear stick ended up so they just cut it, very roughly. I have a cross member cut from another car but failed to take pictures at the time. As you can see it is a swiss cheese of screw holes, bolt holes and all kinds of things so a nice picture of the same area would be great to work from.
Does anyone have such a picture??
The two square holes for captive nuts (left one is missing) just above the gear stick hole seem real, the 2 nearest either side on the floor are for the gearbox rear mount, but there are 3 or 4 "new ones" down there as well I think. The 4 around the gear stick hole with captives look good but the rest seem to be random drillings. There may be something to hold the rear of the center console there??
They all offend me so any left after I patch that area will get Mig'd up!
