    Hood side stiffeners

A couple of posts over the years mention the spring steel stiffening strips that were apparently original equipment in the hoods up against the B post
Does anyone have a picture they can post showing them in place or are they completely enclosed if fitted properly?
My hood looks to have small pockets that might be for the strips if I knew the specification.

I used a lightweight dinghy sail batten. These are flexible fibreglass lengths with various stiffnesses available. Mine are about 8mm wide and 2 or 3mm thick. A sailing/boating shop should stock them or a sailmaker. Easy to cut to length and then file corners/sharp edges smooth. Cheers Craig

Reasonably well hidden and difficult to photograph clearly.

I bought and fitted a pair of these when i re assembled the car a couple of years ago, they weren't fitted previously. Have to say I can't think of what they do because as far as I can see there appears no difference in the performance of the hood or easier raising or lowering of same with them as without.

Their purpose is to stop the lower front corner of the hood from flaring out when travelling at speed.

Thanks for the suggestions so far - in the absence of any pictures am I right in thinking they are upright alongside the B post not running along the bottom edge of the hood?

I've found a detailed explanation of how to replace the hood and a sketch of the stiffener and which way up to fit them on the tscusa.org site.

Looks to be lots of other technical articles as well so worth a look for general interest.

Sorry i'm not bright enough to put the website as a workable link!

The tscusa.org hood fitting instruction is also in our technical section.
