New Hood catches

Hi SOs
I was going to fit my new Stag Wber hood catches on Sat.
But a) is it the right way installed at LH side despite me watching the video and without instructions I am not sure
and b) what has the PO done to the RH side? This hook seems to be welded on. Looks like I need to drill new holes and machine old one off

You have got a Mk 1 hood frame, which only came with a simple hook on the off side. This did not work well, so the spring loaded type was eventually fitted to both sides. They are handed, so you will need to buy one of each, and drill two small holes on the "hook" side to attach the replacement (carefully, in the right place!).I think the one in your picture is fitted on the wrong side. The catch should lift as the hood stick engages with it, and be pushed down to release it when erecting the hood.

They look like there fitted the right way round, is your good a mk1 or mk2

Hes bought the upraded hood catches Stag Webber sells , they work the other way round ,than the original ones

I have a mark 1.
So the one I fitted is correct and other side needs drilling holes to fit.

I hear that now the seller does not recommend them for use with Mk 1 hood.

Doesn’t mention Mk 1

Depends on which hood catch entry you read, the website entries are very misleading:
....These will fit directly to Mk2 stag hoods. However, please note that they are not suitable for use with Mk1 3-window style covers.


I know there was a big discussion on another site after a number of people had their Mk 1 hoods/windows damaged by these clips.

Maybe Im naive but I would have thought that the SOC mobile forum would have been chosen to be compatible with the main forum without introducing meaningless trash and symbols, as above.
