    Waterpump stuck solid in block

Yet again my Stag has me pulling my hair out
I've made improvised slide hammer MK2
but the bloody pump won't budge
when I done my Sprint pump a few years ago it just popped out easy
I don't want to bugger up the jacksaft
Do I just keep going with the slide hammer??

I'd probably use a couple of lengths of wood in an inverted "V" form to sit at the top under your slide hammer weight at its uppermost position and then levered into position on each head somewhere so that gradual pressure is applied to the pump. Leave it overnight maybe adjusting the wooden lengths to maintain pressure. The reasoning is, if it's the "O" rings which are stuck, they will respond to continuous pressure rather than instantaneous whacks.

      tip now superfluous!

        HI Garry
on looking at the rimmer bros video on the water pump removal the slide hammer he has is a bit more meatier than yours and after comparing the two videos yours and theirs i would say he is giving it a bit more thump than you, this plus the bigger weight he has could make all the difference. have a look see what you think.
Wish i was nearer would love to have come and had a look with you.

As I’ve always said “if at first you don’t succeed, try a bigger hammer!”

Your first slide hammer looked just like one my dentist uses.

Did the brass cage come out with it, or is it still in there?

Cage stayed in so had to slide hammer that out as well
old pump might be up for grabs as I need to fund a new 12 vane cover
