Hello all, maybe it is just wishful thinking, but I have the impression that at least in Germany Stag prices are gradually going upwards..., Best wishes, Dieter.
I hope they do get close to the asking prices as it’s about time Stag values rose to align with the rest of the market.
Stag values are crawling up as opposed to those of Early Range Rover and Series Land Rovers for instance.
I have been pondering this for some time and have identified other cars in a similar situation to the Stag and from the same era. Scimitar GTE (Princess Anne has one donchano) and Rover p6.
Prices will never compete until demand exceeds supply; sure there are some beautiful examples that command high prices and when they do they more often than not appear on threads such as this to be torn apart for one reason or another. Wonky badge yes, but no consideration to the overall condition of mechanicals and body which to be frank would concern me way more than cosmetics.
Could the cars reputation impact demand? The Stag has a stinker let’s face it, but then so do other cars that are rising in value at a faster rate i.e. have a higher demand/supply ratio, Alfa Romeo Montreal, Lancia Beta anyone?
I wonder if perhaps the club could be doing more to attract younger members to Stag Ownership. You know make the car a little more trendy and attractive as a proposition to the under 50s. Maybe promote that manufacturing issues are now identified and largely resolved.
The only reason I say is because in my humble opinion, demand is falling as the captive audience for a Stag is ageing.
