A typical Stag Story :(

After fitting recon rad and all new hoses ,took it for a long drive ,yesterday , no over heating ,ran really well ,valley dry when hot water level raised in the bottle, valley dry.
I was expecting the water in the bottle to go down overnight.But level remained high this morning ,but valley was dry . Let car alone and.........

Two hours later valley had coolant in it .I squeezed the top hose and heard a gurgle sound and more water went it to the valley !!!! I'm hoping its a hose clip ????? Water pump ? No overheating so far

I do try to get it right first time ,but the stag likes to keep me hanging on !

Any thoughts most welcome

you can lead a Stag to water AND you can make it drink

From the way you have described it Alex i would think i would just be a hose or clip pal that's given as its cooled, fingers crossed for you its nothing more.

Also, check the thermostat housing gasket.

Just been there.

I would certainly replace hose clip, but if top hose is solid I would do exhaust gas check in the bottle next.

Can you see where the water is coming from when you squeeze the top hose?...... Just wondering if there is an easy answer being as you can hear the gurgling?

I was going to suggest that, as its only 6 bolts and you'll get a much better view..............but I was guessing you knew to do that already :-)

Touch wood ,the brand new jubilee clip ,where the top hose goes in to the thermostat housing was not holding !Now replaced by much better quality clips ,and fingers crossed , ran the engine no leaks or overheating and coolant drawn back into the engine from the bottle when cold . Will top up if needed tomorrow after a trip taking SWMBO shopping . Thanks everyone

Up date This morning ,valley dry ,coolant back into the rad ,no leaks ,topped up bottle ,drove around all day running spot on now covered in snow
