Do UK Stag have side impact bars in the doors?

I have a May '71 Stag that does not, but I have a Mk2 rolling shell that does. Did other markets have these fitted?

I think the side impact bars were for the American market, not sure about down under Australia , I have fitted them to my doors when reskinning a door

Mandatory in Aus from 1977, I don’t know if all exported cars had them or just MY1977.
UK cars never had them AFAIK

Are you sure it's a federal door,as they were fitted as standard, they were not fitted to UK cars because it was a BL cutting cost

Definitely federal although I will check as I don’t think I have taken much notice as impact bars

Are you sure it wasn’t a case of it being a USA requirement, but not a U.K./ROW requirement, rather than a cost cutting exercise?

As mentioned, my May 71 Fed doesn't have the impact bars but the '73 does. Here's a photo.

                  Same here Sujit

My 73 has them as well, with mk1 door locks. the 71 does (did) not - I have been cutting that one up recently for metal patches!

Terry, the "73 has the body shell of the MK1 with the rest being mostly MK2. The wiring seems to be a bit of both. Door switches (+ switching) and brake/oil warning light come to mind....

Mine seems to be full mk2 except those door locks, it’s been noted on other threads that the door locks were very late to change. The federal wiring diagrams changed at LE 20272 so Prior to that they were more like mk1 electrics

Maybe the federal doors with bracing were even later to change? You know what they were like regards using up stock.

Anyone got a federal with mk2 locks?
