    Steve,

If you don't ask, you won't get or won't know. Lots of us want to know the answers to lots of questions but 'scared' to ask. Nobody knows everything.

    Jeff.
It's funny, micky taking and insults fly around this forum like wasps, but NEVER in response to a question. Only Kryten knows everything but then he's nearly as old as me and MUCH wiser. The best known Ethylene Glycol anti-freezeis Bluecol. Martin.

          Hi Martin

Knowing the significance of the various coloured anti-freezes is very helpful, thanks for again flagging it up, BUT, like so many Forum Topics it has begun to "Drift" away into too many unqualified opinions.

I fully understand that "opinions" are the very nature of any "Forum", but we arein the area of Industrial Chemistry, so perhaps we should step back and concider this issue more simply?

Iam sure thatblue glycol antifreeze is second to none, but I have run my own Stag for thirty years using Unipart GREEN glycol and my seals and gaskets have not disintergrated! so don't let us get things out of proportion,....................................... ...........AND, incidently, just tothrow yet another "spanner" in, some of our readers may be interested to know thatas well as blue, and green, there is also a CLEAR glycol anti-freeze!!

          Happy Staggering!

Hiya, glycol based coolant/antifreeze has been about for more than 70 years, aircraft on both sides during WW2 used it, but its constituants have changed a lot since then, the same may apply to yours, if you've been looking after the old girl for that long, it stands to reason that you're doing the right thing, but all greens may not be the same !

I think the use of colour as a guide is relatively recent, BUT, given that the subject is being investigated by an experienced body that's (for once) on our side, I will stick like glue to blue, at least until the issue is resolved. As for clear, if you can be arsed to read every word on the label then good luck.

I'm a bit puzzled why anybody would want to express a personalopinion, or to argue,I only posted the original notice to try and help. Speech over. Martin.

Just to add to the mix I've been running with Halford's pink antifreeze for a couple of years now, since I replaced the head gaskets. I've had no problems with it so far, if I knew then what I know now I might have stayed with an old fashioned antifreeze, but there seems to be no going back so all I can say is if my engine melts I'll be sure to report it here.
