Looking to get my bumpers re-chromed
I am looking to get my bumpers re-chromed (also thinking of chromeing my cam covers). I've just phoned a local place in Derby and been quoted £1500.00 for the bumpers! Has anyone had theirs done? The price made me draw a sharp intake of breath! It was James Bond's colour... Saffron Yellow is so cool :-)Tags: None

It seems there is no cheap chrome platers any more! I just dropped $600 on door handles, tonneau horseshoes, boot lock and petrol cap. Repro parts (if available!) almost certainly don’t have quality chrome so felt these were worth it.
Check out the s/s bumpers, I got a group Harrington set and they look good, but not fitted them yet. Slightly thinner gauge metal but I was impressed. If you search the forum there are quite a few who have them and the general opinion is good.

Hi David, I got a new rear bumper direct from Harrington's in Vietnam, in November. Thao was incredibly helpful and efficient. My front bumper is in good shape and although Harrington's only advertise as a pair, they were quite happy to supply me just the rear. It arrived in less than five days from despatch, was extremely well packed and fitted well, just a minor bit of fettling to allow just one of the brackets attach the bumper to the car, to sit level, done with an electric file.
Cheaper than the usual suppliers, but there was subsequently a bill for £45 for duty from UPS the delivery company, but still cheaper.
Cheers Mac

Thanks Alan - that's scary! I've placed my order with Harringtons (Thanks CJC and macstag1) as they were cheaper than Wards by nearly £200.00 (and probably the same source of supply).Originally posted by barkerwilliams View PostIt was James Bond's colour... Saffron Yellow is so cool :-)

The guy did admit he didn’t get a quote and only thought the work would cost about £500. What condition were the parts in? Did the chromers have to straighten or repair? Door handles are Mazak, so difficult to do properly = additional costs. Triple plating is the only way to do it properly, and that costs £££££££.Originally posted by barkerwilliams View PostDave
