    Inlet Manifold Gasket change

I’ve just discovered a leak from the inlet manifold gasket and plan to change them but would appreciate some advice please!
Firstly which gaskets do I use - Rimmer’s or James Paddock offer a thin set for £3, or a Payne set at £15 (I’ve seen people recommend Payne but are they too thick?)
what gasket seal should I use and do I apply all around gasket or just around the water channel as on the Rimmer’s video?
I’ve also seen advice to ream out the bolt holes on the manifold - can I ask by how much?
Any other tips would be welcome!
    TIA

    Hi Ian,

There is masses of good advice on the forum. My suggestion would be to read it up so you get familiar with the topic then strip the manifold off and measure the thickness of the existing gaskets, whilst assessing the fit of the manifold to the heads in terms of hole alignment. You can do this by slaving it in place and measuring all areas with feelers to get a gapping picture. As regards gaskets make sure you have the slotted type that allows leaking fluid to escape to the V and not back into the bores.

If you have any questions at this point let us know.

Oh, and I would strongly recommend replacing the threads in the heads with your preferred choice of insert, of which there is a lot of advice once again to look at.

    Regards

    Mark
