    NOS Pump shaft?

A friend of mine in the British car business is going through his 30 years of parts on the shelves and bunging me any of the small Stag parts. One is a water pump shaft, Its new, its old but is it NOS?

anyone know how to identify an NOS shaft. It has green paint on the bottom end no obvious numbers?

Does it have 'Zephyr' engraved on it on the shaft?

I believe this is a mark of decent OEM stock

Beware, New Old Stock in this case could be a shaft that is made of cheese, try filing it on the teeth edge if it marks it don't use it...heartbreak.

Can you get it tested for hardness? I think 71 is the magic number - I will check though
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

Its not for me.. I was going to move it on. I actually have 2 original pumps already and I'm going ewp -- If only I could remember where I put them!

No markings at all but it looks nice, black oxidized surface no rough edges. Most of the stuff is from old Triumph dealers and some is still boxed, all I have for this is the lid in the picture. All of the stuff is pretty much not the things people are looking for, some is nla eg a NOS metal auto gate and lamp, there is a piston liner, 20 clutch/brake return springs!! All rubber parts are rotten including the NOS steering column bush (rats!) plus about 10 window circuit breakers, 2 in BL packaging.

I currently have the pump out of mine, had a small leak since I bought the car in 2011, didn't do the pump when I did the head gaskets as want to go 2012 National with the TR club, travelled 19k since then but when I pulled the pump was shocked how clogged it was. Always flush out every 2yrs and block flush and hovered out when heads done. NO over heating even in the 34deg,s heat last year on the way to Worcester .

Anyway my pump has SHU stamped on it.

I have a theory about new old stock especially where someone might find a stash hidden away in a basement somewhere.

BL quality control was not a World standard in the 1970s or even since

These items would have been stashed for a reason, possibly because they were not fit for purpose then. time will not have been kind and they will still be rubbish now.

                  Caveat Emptor etc

Stags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

Have you put K Seal in the system at some stage? Looks a bit like coppery sludge on the pump.

Yes I have, to try and stop the slight leaks, but did not expect that
