    Ulez in london

    Hi,
I am not sure but I heard someone mention that classic cars wont be spared but have to start paying a hefty road tax for driving within the limits of the proposed ULEZ (Ulta low emissions zone).
    Any thoughts on this.

As far as London goes they'd have to pay ME to go there. I certainly wouldn't pay for the privilege, assuming it was a privilege which it isn't!

Petrol cars Euro 4 and diesel euro 6 or 6b or above can enter but pay vehicles not to these standards are excluded. Historical are exempt, the thinking being they are less numerous and generally used less than moderns. Euro 4 was required from Jan 05
Paul - 3 projects, 1 breaker - garage built and housing 2 white Stags. One runs, one doesn't

My thoughts are I would rather have my fingernails pulled out than drive into London these days, if that's any help lol

This is the link to check if your car is exempt; which all Stags should be by now.

I find the lack of publicity for this change worrying, especially as it will be expanded in 2021 to a much wider area and other cities.

It’s much like the MOT change, what a mess.

Seems to me that the more Civil Servants we employ, the worse job they do.

Quite so! It might be a little easier with an automatic but certainly my manual stag doesn't like stop-start in traffic jams and let's face it London is one big traffic jam. Sometimes on the 10 O' Clock news they show live pictures and even late evenings it's still "thronged" as we say up here in Yorkshire.

              Hi Richard,

You won’t have to drive in London to be effected as I think Leeds is one of the places that may introduce a ULEZ.

Andy,I don't often visit any cities if I can help it. When I was a wagon driver I used to spend hours stuck in rush-hour traffic but at least I was getting paid for it. When we're out in the Stag it's pretty much rural roads only. Last year we had some lovely drives round the lakes and if we go late afternoon we find that most of the "grockles" have gone home and we have the place to ourselves.

I agree, Stag auto is just about perfect for that sort of driving.

mind you a fella I met working there today was in the same class as Sid Vicious at school and I once done a job for Eddie Tenpole's cousin at Marble Arch

Isn’t that called name dropping Gary? lol.

As I remember Sid had a Triumph, even if it was a Bonneville.

What i meant was there wont be ANY vehicles spared. Classic exempt cars will no longer qualify!

Transport For London website still says historic vehicles, i.e. over 40 years old, and not used for commercial purposes will be exempt.

Not seen anything to contradict that.
Now Stagless but have numerous car projects
So many cars, so little time!

Use the link and enter your Reg and it tells you if your car is exempt.
