    Alloy wheel refurbishment

Was curious if anyone has had their alloys diamond cut?

My wheels aren’t too bad, but they have pitting and need a good polish.

Has anyone tried powder coating and then have the polished surfaces diamond cut.

I'm no expert but wouldn't powder coating chip at the edges when machined ?

Nope, had my Porsche alloys powder coated and the rims diamond cut without issue.

Stag alloy is more complex and curious if anyone has tried.

Yep had mine diamond cut, powder coated and lacquered, and was about £70 per wheel. Forget exactly.

The guy operating the lathe said what a pain they were because these old wheels weren't particularity true which meant that it took a long time to probe the wheels before running the cutting tool.

Thanks, my Porsche ones were £75 a wheel so that’s a pretty good price.

I thought they were doable, but wasn’t sure given the style.

Any chance of posting a picture as I’d love to see how they turned out?

Sure, I hope a Dropbox link is ok, it's oversize for the forum attachment and I'm not sure how to go about resizing on my phone!

Saw some done by Lepsons (who are acknowledged as being amongst the best) which were excellent. A friend of mine had some Porsche wheels also done by them which I saw that were similarly exceptional. 10% off in the club mag too

Powder coated and diamond cut for me too. They were reluctant, however, to take on the tops of the spoke webs as their diamond cutter just did circular bits like rims. Was not a problem to do the spokes myself with some wet-or-dry.

Depends where you live but mine were done by Lepsons a month or so ago, they are North Kent. Highly recommended.

Could you let me know where you had your wheels refurbished?
                            Thank you.
