Speedometer cable fixing?

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how the speedo cable clips under the Stag? Whilst repairing a badly perished fuel pipe, I noticed this hanging down excessively and can't see how it should clip back up...

Is it a replacement as I replaced mine and found it to be that bit longer then original and had problem with a good roote to speedo, as you don't wont any tight bends in the cable. Think I pushed more cable into the area behind dasboard to take up the extra bit.
