I have melted two aftermarket windscreen washer bottles on the exhaust pipe. They just don't seem to fit tight into the bracket and are easily knocked off. Does anybody have tips to improve the attachment?
Many thanks

I almost had the same problem. The repro ones (or at least the one I bought) could be fitted in the metal bracket so that it was held in place just by the bracket squeezing the bottle flange. I also managed to knock it out a couple of times whilst working in that area. I then noticed that the plastic flange wasn't actually sitting inside the netal side rails of the bracket. It took a bit of persuasion, but it fits very firm and corect now. After a couple of remove/refits it really sits properly how it should now. It seems the plastic flange on the bottle is not really sharply defined and needs to be taught how it has to fit in the metal flanges.
Morning all,
To ensure a better fit "down" into the carrier, possibly gentle warming of the bottle "flanges" with a hair drier or a variable temperature heat gun might help making the plastic fit better?
Possibly keeping water in the bottle at the same time will prevent inadvertent "meltdown"!
Best of luck!
Hi Tanya, On advise of a knowledgeable long term Stag owner I fitted a washer bottle from a Mk2 saloon with its bracket and made a leather strap and buckle to retain it.
Cheers Ian A
I just replaced my bottle and had to adjust the bracket in a vice and bend the rod that goes over the clip/bottle form that holds it on, the bottle look like they have been too heavily trimmed around the boss area due to flash, from the blowing process on a worn mould removing some of the bottle clip form in the process.
P.S make sure the bottom of the bottle does not touch the power steering pipes or they will knock it from the bracket , don't ask me how I know
