Cobra alarm immobiliser installation - electrics.

I've just completed the installation of a Cobra alarm / immobiliser and I thought things were going well. From the outset I had removed the positive terminal from the battery. All wires from the immobiliser control box were jointed correctly and secreted away wherever possible along other looms which are in good condition. On completion of the wiring I rested the positive terminal back on the battery to test that all was well. I turned the ignition switch and heard the ignition relay activate and the ignition light came on, I didn't want to start the car with the positive terminal unsecured so turned off the ignition with the key and removed it only to find that the ignition light stayed on and the only way to extinguish it was by again removing the positive terminal. Has anyone got any ideas as to what I might have done wrong as having checked everything several times I'm at a loss. It would seem somehow the relay is getting a feed that it shouldn't from my limited knowledge. Any help would be very much appreciated.

Do you have a LED for an ignition light or a bulb?

Could be the diodes in the alternator have gone.

If a LED then they can act like a diode and maintain a relay by not grounding a voltage as a bulb does- my TR6 had that and the engine ran on.
Once I had reverted to a bulb its higher current draw killed the engine immediately once ignition turned off,

But sorry no help in your circumstances.

I suppose that could be the problem, everything was working perfectly prior to my intervention in the installation of the immobiliser.
