    Engine rebuild

I want to do a full rebuild on a stag engine and heads .Have inquired a bit and there at no cranks or cams available as an exchange .So maybe a local engine rebuild company. Anyone used someone in East Anglia area before (norwich). apart from unleaded mod what else needs modification during rebuild .

Stag engines were designed for unleaded fuel, so no mods needed.
If you can blueprint and balance you should get a delightfully smooth engine.

Wondered about the overheating problem .Is there a n engine mod for that .It's a total rebuild as I took it out in 1990 and it's now seized.

It's worth checking that the oil & waterways in the block are totally free of casting sand. This will hinder fluid flow, and add to any inherent cooling problems; others on here have been surprised just how much sand can be got out. Also worth skimming the engine block mating faces as well as the heads; again recommended by others on the Forum to reduce the risk of HGF.

I'd helicoil all of the threads in the aluminium components whilst all is disassembled. It's so cheap and easy to do.
          The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

Absolutely, it’s essential. I did and have been thankful several times when removing or refitting a component..

Hi Harry, pop along to the N&N in Norwich and you can talk to a couple of members that have had their engines rebuilt recently, the contacts will give you details of the machinists etc .
