    Refurbishing Door Cards

ive basically got one door card that is a bit wavy and could do with replacing. The vinyl etc is all good but it needs a better backing board. Has anyone used the replacement boards from Paddocks (or know of any other source, I’ve got a bit of a beef with JP at the moment over a “lifetime guarantee exhaust that wasn’t) to good effect and, I’d so, any tips? I did a search and didn’t find much

I've used a pair from JP, they are one sized, my project was on the mk1 door panels, the hardboards are slightly shorter than the ones on the mk2 due to the mk1's slightly different build, so had to cut them down, by a couple of inches from memory
Had to be careful not to damage the trim when removing the thin layer of foam which is glued to the trim and the hardboard. I bought a sheet of quarter of an inch foam, the correct sized staples and some aerosol trim adhesive. Was delighted with the end product, I fit them to the door with the clips from LD parts which grip into the door frame better. As always the first attempts seem daunting but the next ones (if) will be easier

I've used the door backing boards from Paddocks not had any problems fitting them,I also have used them as a template to make new boards out of plywood,I have one board if you want to use it as a template

Hi, just a tip from South East Trimmers - he uses plastic ones he has made by his son (who is in the plastics business) as he says the minute the old style boards get even mildly wet they warp.

I originally found them on E Bay but the chap does not appear to advertise them on there anymore..I guess not a part that is in high demand..

                        Hi Vishnu

If you can't find any perhaps give Jim a call at South East Trimmers. He may sell you some.

Door card off and door pull/handle of LD. Subjecting it to the 50kg tool chest to see if that straightens it out a little.

Found a note on the back, they are Aldridge trimming replacement door cards and were fitted in 1997-nothing lasts these days
