water pump seal problems

I'm rebuilding a water pump and have noticed that Seal - Oil - 148501 is relatively tight around the shaft, but rotates in the brass cage. (I did oil the bearing, so the walls of the cage are slippery, ) I have an old seal which does the same thing. Has anyone experienced this? Should I just use hymolar to anchor it in?

I have another cage, but the, Seal - Water - Impellor to Bearing Housing - 148322 is too tight.

Buy a Stagdad water. Pump kit. You will not get a better water pump.

I used another brass cage.

Something isn't right, I hope the new cage is better as you really don't need the pump seal popping out. had that problem recently and ended up fitting an electric pump.

Neil, I have a few cages and made sure the one I used keeps that oil seal tight,

Talking about water pumps. Tony Hard confirmed I have a spare good brand water pump shaft. Made and branded UGW. The shaft going in is made by Zepher.
