In another discussion someone mentioned that a Stag engine rebuilder always used k-seal, so I was doing some research.
My only cooling problem is that the steel pipe across the top of the radiator has a pinhole so I have just ordered a piece of copper pipe to replace it. The head gaskets were replaced three years, 30,000 miles, ago so I rather hope they don’t need doing again!

I had good results from k-seal in a rover v8 that had dropped a liner. ran for another 20k miles, not bad for a get you home solution.
It did nothing for my stag with a blown head gasket when I was 200 miles from home, and Steelseal did nothing but fill my rad with turkish delight.
I wasnt trying to bodge it but just wanted to use it that weekend and really didnt want to strip the engine down.
In the end that is exactly what I didStags and Range Rover Classics - I must be a loony

why use copper, when there replacement stainless steel pipes from the likes of Robsport? I changed the old steel pipe across the top of the engine and there are now no leaks into the V.
Also is not copper is less reactive than aluminium ?

It’s the pipe on the radiator that I need to change, the one that connects the overflow bottle to the right-hand side. I think you’re referring to the heater supply pipe along the engine, which the PO of my car had already made in 15mm copper pipe!
Copper is easier to solder to the brass radiator top tank which is why I’m going for that.Richard
