    Spitfire Graveyard in Sheffield

    Hello,

Has anybody ever done any business with these people: http://www.spitfireg1.f9.co.uk/

Under eBay they offer items under "Elaine".

I bought a Stag wiper motor from them in December 2009. Up to today it did not arrive - with loads of different excuses. I assume it never left British soil- if it ever existed.

    Kind regards, Dieter from Germany.

I have dealt with them before. Goods always arrived ok but I couldn't get the message across as to the condition I was willing to accept. I didn't get charged for all the variations I received, he must have made a loss in the end.

I contacted them a few years ago.Don't expect them to have the bitsadvertised on their siteavailable to buy! Never bought anything from them so can't comment on price/quality/delivery.

      Mark.

        Hello,

Well, I bought a Stag wiper motor from them for only 7.49 on 15th December 2009, but the postage was 45.00 to Germany. So I told them to send the parcel to a Suffolk address latest 28th December, as I could have picked it up there in the first week of January. Of course it was not there waiting for me, when I arrived.

So they promised to send it to Germany and even sent me a scan of the postal receipt dated 09.02.2010, but that could have been any other item to any other German address.

Of course nothing arrived and they did not react to my mails.

In the end I doubt, whether that wiper motor ever left British soil - if it existed after all. But hope dies last...

They no longer do business on eBay under "Elaine", but under different nameswith a Sheffield address. I wish I had googled "Spitfire graveyard" before placing a bid.

        Kind regards, Dieter.

          Hello everybody,

I could hardly believe: Today - almost a quarter of a year after the purchase - this Stag wiper motor arrived at my place.

          So apologies to Spitfire Graveyard!

          Kind regards, Dieter.

            Glad to hear that Dieter.

Must say, their website looks impressive, but an e-mail to them yesterday remainsunanswered at the moment.

              Hello

I am afraid my joy was a bit premature! When that parcel with the wiper motor arrived I only had a short glimpse at its contents. Today I found the time to have a closer look and what did I see: It is a Spitfire wiper motor in pretty rotten shape!

I would rather not comment on that business attitude here in the forum. But as you say: Forewarned is forearmed.

              Kind regards, Dieter.

Hiya Dieter, I'm a little curious that you tried to buy Stag bits from a place called "Spitfire Graveyard"? The cheapest I've come across wiper motors is about £30, and that one wore out its brushes in 3 or 4 months. You get what you pay for, to quote someone famous. Martin.

                  Hello Martin,

due to the sometimes bad quality of "new" Triumph parts on the (after-)market I am trying to buy either NOS parts od good used ones (e.g. from Martin Dimmick or Les Clarke), recondition them and put them in a shelf for later use.

Especially during the long winter months this gives me some rewarding work and satisfaction.

How wrong can you get, if you end up with the wrong source.

In the meantime, however,I have overhauled that Spitfire wiper motor, too. I post a photo, if you wish.

                  Kind regards, Dieter.

Hi Dieter, I wanted a front screen frame for my GT6 and contacted the Graveyard. No experience of mail order with them. The chap told me he would cut it out for me and I told him I would collect it. To cut a long story short the guy doesn't strike me as being the most organised in the world (he wasn't there when I arrived which was a bit worrying when I'd travelled 90 miles in my matesvan which I'd borrowed for the collection!) but when he turned up he was very personable and helpful. I thought he did me a good deal,I got a lot more then I'd asked for as the frame came with the bulkhead still attached cmplete with wiper box and wiring loom etc etc.

He did tell me that the website is well out of date (ten years!)when I phoned re an item I had seen on there so don't rely on any of those items being in stock!

                    Al the best. Dick
