    Inlet manifold

I'm just having my camshaft covers blasted and powder coated ( mesh is being removed ) and I was asked by the company if I also wanted the inlet manifold coated. It is being blasted anyway so should I leave as is or should I have it coated ?. Will it last ?, effect anything ?. They can do any colour.
    Cheers

I would leave it. I would have a slight concern that the heat (when they melt the powder onto the part) could distort the inlet manifold [temp could be up to 200 deg C, not very high but a lot higher the manifold usually runs at, hence the slight risk of distorting] - also the cleaning/blasting process could damage the mating faces - oh and if they are not careful when masking up coating can get into the inside and in the bolt holes and where the core plug sits. This will then have to be cleaned out before refitting - and in my experience removing powder coat from where you don't want it is not easy. Not worth the hassle/risk in my opinion, just clean it up and give it a coat of aluminium spray paint if you want it to look nice.

When restoring my I sand blasted front cover, cam covers, sump and manifold, this was 3 years ago, I did tape the faces up with a tape like is used on carpets before having them powder coated, everything still ok
