Hi, I am ordering an Alloy header tank and will be having a boss fitted to accommodate a level sensor. Does anyone knowwhere and what kind of level sensors are available, preferably with a M22 boss.
Sukh, as far as I know there are no general purpose level sensor devices that you can simply fit to a boss and will work reliably. I think you will have to design one specially for your tank.
Hiya, there's an endless selection of level sensors on here, some very expensive, some not, avoid the very cheap ones, they're plastic. The optical ones look good.
Yep, something like that will do nicely but 80 quid:shock:I will shop around, if not successful then I will have to bite the bullet and get it. Thanks for that.
Hi Steve, My rad is already done.I am going to fit this header near the fuse box. It will be fixed in such a way so that it can be taken off put on with ease if I need the space to work on the car.
With all this worry about header tanks and water levels I can't see why you would want a metal header tank where you can't actually see the water levels. If my stag has a small leak or other problem then I will see the level change immediatly, long before the level switch is activated.
If the level switch goes on then there is a problem and I think you'll see it coming sooner if you can just glance at the level in a plastic tank.
Just stirring, but I do like the look of the metal ones.

Thats why I fitted a sight glass to the side so you can see the water level

Tis true Johnboy, But what really puts me off (fussy sod that I am) is the discolouration of the plastic bottles including the original windscreen washer bottle they make any engine bay look bad.
I like to think of us as ambassadors to these cars, people are always looking at them. I nearly always am asked to show the engine, hence the work I have had done to have it cleaned up.
p.s I was also offered to have a sight glass fittedinstead of the water level sensor.
