    Brake master cylinder

looking for some advice, my brother's car has a brake fault, the peddle is hard to push as if the servo is not working, the garage that is looking at it think the brake master cylinder is faulty

I always thought brake master cylinder fault were soft peddle or leaky i know if one of the brake hoses has collapsed this could give a hard peddle but all his brake hoses are stainless I've not hear of one of those braking down ?

Dave if you pump the brake pedal to get it firm before starting if the servo is working, when the engine starts the pedal will soften as the servo gets the vacuum. That might help narrow down the search

I'm not sure this garage know what there doing, first off all they said it's your servo,so he bought a servo, then they said new servo is faulty he got that changed same thing peddle still hard, now as I said they've said brake master cylinder is faulty, not long ago he had fitted a new one for another fault, that's why I wasn't sure about the brake master cylinder being at fault

well i was wrong, one for your scrap books his car is finally sorted, one of his front calipers pistons were sticking that caused the hard brake peddle, but when we tiried to bleed the brakes the fronts wouldn't bleed , we did centralize the pwda valve but the fronts still didn't bleed, turns out there was no suction from the brake master cylinder only on the front half, fitted another master cylinder and they bleed okay, that's a new one for me
