    Cruise Light Wiring

Hello All. I’m brand new to the SOC Forum so apologies if I’m not following convention by writing a new post on this topic - but I couldn’t see any related topic.
I have acquired a rather nice Mallard Blue Stag recently (2nd Stag I’ve owned) and also have just purchased a set of 2nd hand rear cruise lights to replace the Stag badges that we’re looking a little worse for wear on an otherwise pristine example.
My question is. Does anyone know if the wiring loom caters for these lights as standard? If not I was going to patch into the power for the fuel pump as I know this becomes live with the ignition - which is ideal for the cruise lights.
    Many Thanks. Mike.

Mike. I think the cruise lights were only wired to come on with the side lights, so can easily be wired on to come on with them. There seems little point in having them on in daylight, as they are not all that bright.
    Mike.

      come on with side lights.

Sujit with fed. 71. however for USA cars there is separate wiring that feed the ligghts but u can use bullet connection from side lights. most probably that's where they are fed from anyway.

Thanks Mike - that’s good advice and also makes the wiring very simple. I’ve not received the lights yet as they were only sent to me today, but I imagine they are 5w bulbs, which as you say will not be very visible in day light.
I’ll see how they look and then consider front ones as well (if a pair can be found without paying a King’s ransom).
        Cheers. Mike.

Thanks Sujit. I think a couple of those nasty scotch lock connectors will do the trick.

            Mike,
2 years ago I added what I call real cruise lights to my Stag to make the car more visible when driving it. I first replaced just the outer head lights with European Stag ones and they come with a parking light bulb holder below the main bulb. I fitted a 6W Led bulb on each of the outer lamps, ran a wire from an ignition controlled fuse first to the RHS head light then across to the one on the LHS, now when the key is turned on the two outer head light LED bulbs light up and make the Stag much more visible. The added bonus id that it makes my wife feel that much more secure when she is in the Stag as " we can now be seen more easily". Happy wife makes life that much better!!!!

            Robin.

Hi Robin. I actually had that set up on my previous Stag. I replaced all 4 headlights with Dip / Mains and all complete with side lights. When I switched on the side lights I had 6 lights on the front - it looked quite good.

my front daylight running lights are in the outer headlamps and are ignition fed via a 5 pin relay so that when the dip headlights are turned on the drl's go off

Congratulations on your new Stag. Mallard is a brill colour.

Strongly recommend nothing is added to the White wire Ignition circuits. These are completely unfused so nothing to clear a short circuit other than the wire itself melting (and hopefully not causing a fire). Sidelight circuit much better.

Sorry its a bit late and for reopening this thread but, Mike do you have any pictures of the front of your Stag with all SIX running lights on? I'm currently talking to BetterCarlLghting about upgrading all the external lamps to LED.and what you've done was an option I was considering. Appreciate it would be a huge safety option, just not sure it would look right!?! My other alternative was to set the existing sidelights to DRL's

                    Same question Phil also

                    Many thanks

I added a bullet connector to the rear light wiring for my front and rear cruise light.

These are what you want to make the front sidelight super DLR and park lights on the Stag. Robin I believe l told you about these on the US forum. I have them and they are great. Only thing missing is the switchback function.

I also fitted the LED H1 and H4 LED bulbs to my XJS. To fit to the Stag you will need to cut a hole in the bowl.
