Do you mean just the handle or the whole locking mechanism? The chrome plated bowl can be used for either either type, as can the new SOCTFL ones. The mechanisms behind them differ to suit the different locks at the ends of the door.These are not interchangeable.

The longer arm version is drilled in two places to work with both types. If you have a short arm one, you will need to replace it with the universal one.

I was asked about this a while back. Someone wanted to use nice shiny mk 1 bowls in his mk 2 car. I was able to convert them by screwing 5mm rose joints into the shorter mk1 posts. The rose joints actually got soldered up in the end, but they made the job relatively cheap & quick.

The new SOCTFL sponsored door handles which will be available shortly, have been made so that they will be suitable for Mk 1 and Mk 2 doors.
