    Soft top catches

    Hi

Has anyone purchased these new and improved versions?

They are substantially more than the replacements available at SOC Spares (for example) and as I have a broken one I don't know if these are worth the investment. I can say that the originals do drive me crazy and didn't work well, but then again they are 42 years old!

    Thanks

    Jeff

Never had a problem with the originals.......

No idea if the alternative ones are any good or worth it. You won’t find anyone on here criticising them, or they will be banned.........

Perhaps a previous owner had misused them, as I still have the originals on my car working perfectly. The main difference with the new type seems to be the spring.

I was tempted, but being tight-fisted, I fettled the originals with a file, making the catching cut-out somewhat deeper, spent a lot of time adjusting their position and am now very satisfied with them.

        The answer isn't 42, it's 1/137

At the risk of being banned, I bought these catches, and although they work, they are poorly finished with sharp edges. Be prepared to fettle them before fitting.

I have some and have found them to be a great improvement although as previously mentioned they need the edges filing a bit.

There well worth it. My frame isn't the straightest and the original catches failed every time you tried to pull the hood up. That wedged to the frame in. With these no matter how bad you frame is these will keep it locked and the hood comes out and up every time.

I only have one oem catch fitted to the drivers side, never had an issue with this in 25 + years
